The "iDoctor" App?
This video gave me goose bumps...
The above video shows one doctor who really "gets it" in my humble opinion. When I watch the ads on TV for various drugs I am fascinated by the list of side-effects and warnings interspersed throughout the commercial. I am also fascinated by the advertisements by lawyers offering to "handle your case" against the drug manufacturers. Holly and I are NOT in the medical field, and I have a poor memory sometimes, but even I remember hearing ads by drug companies that I now hear lawyer ads for the same drugs.
And THAT is why I found the above video so interesting and why it gave me goose bumps.
For years my mom would tell me stories about friends who felt better (I won't say "cured" for legal reasons) after taking vitamins or supplements of various types and suddenly they were able to get off the prescription drugs. I used to smile in my "30-something-I-know-everything" way at my mom's stories, and wonder if she was secretly making hats out of tin-foil to keep the aliens from reading her thoughts. :-)
But fast-forward about 15 years and I saw first-hand how the side-effects can be so bad at times with pharmaceuticals. And suddenly I stopped thinking my mom had been quite so far off base. Then the "ask-your-doctor-for-this-pill" ads showed up and you could hear the disclaimers 24/7. Then the "let-me-sue-them-for-you" ads appeared and I realized that mom wasn't crazy after all.
Now, Holly and I try to use holistic treatments whenever possible. We still take prescriptions when needed, but we are a lot more cautious about how often the "need" arises.
I may talk more about this in a future newsletter, but for now I will just say it is refreshing to hear an MD talk the way the one in this video does.
Now that Valentine's Day is over, I've started on a diet to get my weight down to where it is supposed to be. I'll keep you updated on my progress.
