Digitizers And Artists...
... People sometimes think a digitizer is an artist who draws with their digitizing software. That's not the way it works. Most often, the digitizer imports a piece of artwork into their digitizing program and uses that artwork as a template to guide where the stitches will go, what color they will be, and what type of stitches they will use. Once the design is completed, they remove the artwork and export the finished design from the digitizing program to a stitch file (PES, VIP, etc) to be sewn out.
The fact is, most digitizers don't draw beyond the level of a stick person. But that doesn't mean they can't be a great digitizer. Because there are lots of artists who make their drawings available to digitize. And Holly teaches people how to use digitizing software, making it easy enough that literally, a child can do it.
One of our friends had leaned to digitize and was making a redwork design when her 8 year old daughter saw her and asked "What are you doing?" She told the daughter "Digitizing". And the daughter asked "Can I do it?" The mom handed her the pen-style mouse and the daughter digitized.
Yes, it is more complex than that, but it's also as simple as that. If you want to learn to digitize, now is the time to take a test drive of the software Holly uses and teaches ...
