Generations 2.0
Update Details!

Hi everyone -

The sale on Generations ver 2.0 came up kind of last minute so I didn't have all the details beforehand but I did put up the sale so we could get it out for Black Friday through Cyber Monday.  This morning I spoke with Bernie at Generations and got the details.

The sale is actually a "Pre-Sale" at a super discounted price of 50% off on the updates to "Home" version 2.0 and 70% off on updates to the "Pro" version 2.0 which I will explain more about in a minute.  A "pre-sale" means the actual update is not ready to roll out yet but they are offering it at steep discount now for those willing to buy cheap and wait a little while.  They expect final testing to be done and ready to ship in January but my experience has always been a little later rather than earlier.

What is the update all about?  What is "Home"?  What is "Pro"?

We are all using "Home" software now.  They have been making a commercial program for longer than they have made the home program, but it sells under a different name.  The new "Pro" version is going to be coming out in 2016 with many of the tools and features found in the commercial programs today.  This would be great for people who have a commercial machine, or who digitize for customers with commercial machines.  There are features like drop-names, sequins, drag-and-drop monograms, pre-digitized fonts, and so on.  If you have a home machine, you may be able to use some of those designs anyway, but they are not normally found in home software.

The new Pro version will have the same user-interface as current Generations initially but later in 2016 it will be updated with a new interface. ( look and feel )  Later, that new interface will be taken to the home version as well but initially, only for the Pro version.

Some of the Pro features may become available later as add-on modules for the home edition.  If you want only one new module when they come out it may be more economical to keep the home edition and add only that module.  If you are the type-A personality who needs to have everything... then it would be cheaper to update to Pro than buy each module as they become available.

No, I don't have pricing yet on everything and I don't have dates.  All I have for now is what I told you above.

Besides the phone call to Generations this morning, I have been on the phone much of the day answering questions about this and thought I should just send it out to everyone now.

The pre-sale price ends tonight.  They may offer some other sale later on but I doubt it will be discounts from 50% to 70%.

One question I was asked several times was about the dongle for the new software.  Whether you go with Home ver 2.0 or Pro ver 2.0, it will still be your current dongle.  The dongle will just be upgraded via an email file.  If you have Dongle Protection it will carry forward with your dongle whether you upgrade to Home 2.0 or Pro 2.0, you're still covered.

The final question I can answer is what several people have asked, "What is Holly going to do?".  We own several copies of Generations because we have in the past had several employees who digitized with her in our business.  We will upgrade at least one of our copies to Pro.  Even though we don't use a commercial machine, we just want to have the Pro available to us.  Your needs may be different.

Here are the different upgrade pre-sales offers...

Please let me know how I'm doing for YOU.

Holly has assembled a great team of digitizers to create new designs for our members every week.  Designs are officially "up" now every Saturday morning although they are actually turned on every Friday to be sure everything works right before the weekend starts.

Many thanks to all our members who let me know ASAP when I've messed up on one of the upload processes.

While Holly handles the design side of our business, It's my job to build the website pages and maintain the site service.  It's my goal to DELIGHT OUR MEMBERS and I hope you will let me know whenever you find a way that I can improve on what I do for you. Just click REPLY to this email.
