A few weeks ago I was talking with a friend who also owns a website and when he asked what our members are like I thought about it for a
while and made a short list of what our members are all about.
The first of three ways that I could categorize our members would be that many of them are "nurturing". They care about other people and go out of their way to boost others up. That can mean by giving gifts of their time and efforts, or just encouraging others. But that is the first quality I see in our customers.
The second quality would be
"belonging". I would say that ALL of our members are interested in being a part of a group of like-minded people. Whether it is in conferences or informal gatherings or online groups, our members like to belong to something.
And the third word I would say is "re-valuing". That is, looking at life and where it has led thus far and deciding to emphasize "what's next". This can be a member approaching retirement and asking "what's next" or can
be a person looking for a way to make a difference to others.
I would guess that those three groups make up about 98% of our customers. And this is food for thought as 2016 approaches. What isYOUR focus for the coming year?
